Annual Field Activities Calendar

Directorate of Crop Reporting Services, Balochistan.

Below is the tentative schedule for annual field surveys and activities conducted by the Crop Reporting Services (CRS) to ensure accurate agricultural data collection and analysis.

 

January – March:

  • Survey Type: Winter Crop Yield Estimation
  • Crops: Wheat, Barley, Lentils
  • Activity: Field visits to assess crop growth stages, pest/disease prevalence, and initial yield forecasts.
  • Key Action: Data collection for Rabi crops using remote sensing and field-level assessments.

 

April – June:

  • Survey Type: Kharif Crop Sowing Survey
  • Crops: Cotton, Maize, Rice, Vegetables
  • Activity: Monitoring the progress of sowing activities, assessing seed varieties and field preparation.
  • Key Action: Sowing progress reports for Kharif crops and field inspections to ensure proper land use.

 

July – September:

  • Survey Type: Mid-Season Crop Health Monitoring
  • Crops: Cotton, Maize, Rice, Vegetables
  • Activity: Conducting crop health surveys to monitor growth, water usage, and pest/disease management.
  • Key Action: Mid-season evaluation of crops through physical inspections and remote sensing imagery.

 

October – December:

  • Survey Type: Rabi Crop Sowing Survey
  • Crops: Wheat, Barley, Pulses
  • Activity: Collecting data on Rabi crop sowing, irrigation methods, and use of fertilizers.
  • Key Action: Field-level inspections for sowing patterns and land use for winter crops.
  • Special Surveys: Based on the specified durations/time periods/activities.

 

Throughout the Year:

  • Activity: Special Surveys are conducted as required for specific crops, livestock assessments, or in response to climate events such as floods, droughts, and frost damage.
  • Key Action: Emergency data collection and analysis to address unique challenges affecting the agricultural sector.

 

Additional Notes:

  • Remote Sensing Surveys: Conducted throughout the year to complement field activities, providing satellite imagery and GIS mapping for precise land use and crop health data.
  • Training Sessions for Field Officers: Periodic training conducted to ensure best practices in data collection, remote sensing application, and use of updated technology for accurate reporting.
