Cost of Production Survey

Objective: This survey estimates the total cost incurred by farmers in producing various crops, from input
costs to labor and transportation.

Methodology: Interviews with farmers are conducted to gather data on costs related to seeds, fertilizers, pesticides,
labor, water, and equipment.

Farmers are also asked about the selling prices they expect or receive.

Application: The information is used to guide policy decisions on agricultural subsidies, support programs, and
to ensure farmers’ profitability. It also aids in calculating the net return per acre and in planning crop pricing
strategies.

These diverse types of surveys, both objective (focused on factual data like acreage and machinery usage) and subjective (relying on farmer input and market prices), form the backbone of agricultural planning in Balochistan.

They ensure that policymakers have the necessary data to support sustainable agriculture, improve yield, and secure
the livelihoods of farmers across the province
